23/9/09 :

WHEE~~~~ birthday!!!!!!!
OMG! im 15! thats like so old and agedddd la!
ok...first things first: IMPT update: i will be constantly tagging my posts so as to make life easier for myself and you...if you want to find a post of a certain category, its all listed down there!

ok

thank God for 15 awesome years of my life, for putting me where am i now, for putting me in this awesome CCA which i have make So many friends in, thanks for making my life better. Thanks for everything!
Today went quite normal…cleared RC room in the afternoon…felt quite accomplished…
Then bought drinks using money from *censored* …yah…
Lets see…oh yah
Today philo liao…um…discussed abt Confucius’s so-called Superior Man…how’s he should be and all that
Not sure if the list they gave was accurate…but living according to that list is impossible man…
It gives description of someone who is both mature and pure…I guess when someone reached an uber-high stage of maturity, he will discover that it is pureness… kinda like babies…
Those qualities are pure and untainted virtues…”we are born with them, but we need to find them within us” this shows that we are born good, but the big bad world has polluted us … it is human nature to do good…but the worldly desires and others actions taught us how to deceive, lie, cheat and use all kinds of lowly measures to bring us what our greed demands…is all these cause d by our in-built desires, or are we influenced by the others around us?

Ok…lets say that I put on a façade of smiles, but deep inside, I am hurt and feeling cold…would anyone notice my fake smile, would anyone care? Why would people do such things, why are we so insensitive? Words are powerfully weapons against hearts and souls. The damage they cause, the wounds they inflict, may never heal…
Hmmm….a bit the poetic…

PJ going liao…sigh…she has impacted me a lot man…guess you have to let go…
Lastly,
THANKS FOR ALL THE BIRTHDAY WISHES EVERYONE! THEY TOTALLY MADE MY DAY!

20/9/09 :
HI all
sorry........forgot to post....
anyway. today i went out to sorta "celebrate" my birthday since that i wont be home on wed.
went to buy new phone, but must wait until contract finishes on 5th Oct... 2 more weeks! XD I want new phone!!!
then went to eat dinner, but cake..ya...food quite nice la, quite full.
so anyway philo talk about Confucius... cant believe a non-Chinese teaching chinese philosophy... i believe the essence of Confucianism is in the Diction of the words...
hoho...must keep my mind open....
so...first lesson talked about the um..."correct" way of doing things...utilitarian, the truth...and all that....
me personally thinks that there is no hard and fast rule to determine whether one's action is right or wrong...we cant judge them, as diff things matters differently to each and everyone of us...
but there are "general" things that are universally agreed though....
religions do tend to provided people with a set if rules to follow though... does this shows that people needs confirmation on what they do?
maybe... i dont get it why some people are so against certain religions...doesnt all religion tends to teach people to do good? if it doesnt, then its called a cult, not religion....
like once i have read a argument...it states, even if God is not real, you will lead a nice life, being kind and contributing to the world"

wargh..... need organize my thoughts

forget it...go sleep liao...tmr still have first aiders on wheels...gonna cycle for 5 hrs...

aiya
smoke through with excuse la...DMP got what to mug...
anyway...debates today was not bad..ate dinner during debrief...haha
does one's identity comes nature or nuture?
so if a chinese/indian/african lived in USA since young, does it make him a American?or is he stil who he was?
thats the problem i thought of during debates
so.....extension of it to my life
if theres a chinese that lived in the western styleof education, taught western values, speak english, used fork and knifes, IS HE STILL A CHINESE?
can we fault his lack of grasp in chinese for that????
i shall think about it...

10/9/09 :
haiz
today i shall talk about generation gap
wow...am i rebelling now? :0
anyway
the ideals and actions of parents and children is incommensurable
whatever the child is going through, the parent do not know about and do not understand.
how many of us shares our problems with parents? very very little.
why? we think that they dont understand us.
they do not know whats happening in school, what do we value most.... etc etc
although they can, but most of us choose not to...
anyway...some parents say that they are children once. true, but their times is different from ours. can i say that "i have been to africa 30 years ago, therefore, i know what is it like to be in africa now" things change... very drastically too

ok

what i am saying here is that they dont understand.. but they still might be right...after all, they are more experienced in life. however, we will only know whos correct, when we are old and have gone past both the child and parent phrase.

30/8/09 :
hi all~
whee, 5 days holidays are only half gone...
amyway, i want to talk about vigilantism today.
so why does society not allow people to take justice into their own hands?
the obvious answer is that that person's justice may not be what the society agrees as justice.
but what if that persons sense of justice is the same as society's?
if a there is a murderer thats so smart to hide all evidence pointing towards him, but yet everyone knows that he did it, wouldnt it be better if some vigilant just go kill him?
apparently, society's laws dont think so. thereofore, there must be something fundamentally wrong with skipping the process of judging someone, and going to the appropriate punishment directly.
so what is that fundamental mistake?
is it the respect of law?
or the potential that vigilant may become something far more dangerous?

ok

just read an debate.
thoughts: it seems that most arguments rely upon the assumption that vigilant have an inaccurate sense of justice. but if someone does, will his actions be justified?
hmmm.... a vigilant takes away another persons right to life without permission....just like what his victim did.....
is the "permission" of law so powerful, that it can mean between right or wrong?
even if the outcome is still the same?
apparently, it is.
so its kinda like someone doing something even they are not told to do so...
kinda like when u took the sweets that are meant for you without permission, then kena scolding.

whats the difference between this and initiative? one does good things, one does bad things? but then again, good and bad is objective....
whee
enough liao
thanks for reading!

27/8/09 :
whee~ has been living in boardng for almost a week now...
not bad....can wake up late everyday....and sleeps late too
can use msn, facebook during prep, just dont get caught can liao

i emoed a bit this morning....dunno why...self-doubt?
i shall try to explain my emo-ness
i believe in a few things
1) we should not impose our personal beliefs on others
2) i hate certain people

these few days i am seriously loathing some people
some people who cant put their prejudices down for 5 minutes to be a fitting judge
some people who cant respect others
some people who claim to be christians but goes against many things that the Bible theach us
some people that just cant seem to understand that we are all humans
some people that enjoy causing harm to others, be it physical or mental
some people who are pusedo-christians

i really feel like causing harm to these people
some of them are scums of our society and dont have the right to esxist, let alone to be studing in RI.
however, i started to think that i am contradicting myself. by judging these people, am i contradicting my belief that we should not impose our beliefs on thes people? arent i wishing to take my version of justice, and wipe them of the face of our society if i can? am i not imposing my ideals?
but arent most of these ideals those that which we build our socitey on? "all men are created equal" isnt this what our society believes as well? then am i still imposing my beliefs on others?
am i justified to hate them?
........
.......
......
.....
this doesnt change the fact that i still loathe them though.
i tried hard to love them, but i just cant.
why are these people that i hate claim to be christians
oh God, pls let me love, tolerate them, or let them change their ways. Amen

now onto the second part (this is going to be the longest post)
when someone is tempted with the greastest tempatation, does his actions reflect his true personality? of course if he is not shaken, then hes a good person lah.
but what if he sccumbed to it?
how many of us will do something bad, if we can be garunteed not to get caught?
is the greatest temptation a true test of who we are?
how many can pass the test?
......
....
..
.
placed under a strict system, none of us will do anything out of the line.
does that reveals our true selfs?
what is a suitable test then?
do we even hae a true self???

ok
thats enough random contemplations for a day.
see ya~

6/8/09 :
hi all again.....
today's RLP opening wasnt bad... quite fun.
had some fun games and all that, played basketball and went gym before that, met some new people.....
why does everyone act so shocked when they heard that i am going LAN/going gym/play com games. i know i need results to go in RI, but i am not a mugger, i have a social life other than studying....
which nicely leads me to the thoughts that i have today.
i believe that in the world today, having good grades are not the most important anymore. what is important is what process through your head. mugging does not reflect ones personality, ideals, beliefs and way of thought. a social life is just as important as it teaches you soft skills and such. these are what makes you you, and those schools/companies in the future wants to accept/hire you, not some mugging machine.
therefore, pls think, it is what makes us humans where we are. without thoughts and philosophies going through our brains, we are only concerned about having a comfortable life, money and other worldly desires. then what is different from the animals then?
i pity those who only having studying in their life.
anyway, one may ask what is the point of all these thought like meaning of life, world problems and such. well, i can only say that its your life, although discussing these stuff may not seem to have any impact, but it enriches your way if thinking, make yourself question, ask, contemplate about stuff. and if we dont even have a thought about a thing, how are we supposed to change it?

now for the emo part.
am i an extrovert and an introvert? i act like i like talking a lot, but i seldom share my deep and innermost thought with other people.
i think i am an extrovert on the outside, an introvert in the inside
had a discussion with someone yesterday.... haiz.... it was quite good
this blog shall remain as one of the few ways my inner mind opens to others.
so if you are curious about what goes on in my head that i did not tell you, check back often :P

30/7/09 :
whew, finished the cac video, hope its awesome :D
some random contemplation that i have,
i sometimes wonder what will happen if someone dies,
will he/she just disappear without a trace? will we try to call him/her, but receive no answer?
will someone actually FIND OUT that he/she died instead of constantly ignoring the calls and smses?
will anybody find out? if they did, how?
so many questions......
if no one is to notice my death, instead, all they will see is a absence of my presence, have i made an impact on their lifes? perhaps the only thing is a little noise at the back of their heads wondering where am i....
yah, i not emo ok, its just some random thoughts.
hmmm, shall i post some more random thoughts?
yes, i shall
only faith that has been tested through fire is faith that will stand.
has been reading quite a lot of interesting articles lately, about atheism. (the belief that there is no god of any sort) it stated that atheist are generally disliked by american public, and is less likely to get votes than muslims, blacks and woman in an election. but there's no hate crimes against them, unlike blacks and muslims. thats weird...
do people think that people who are godless is more likely to do bad stuff? more likely to step out of the line? partly true.... does an atheist believe in "what goes around, comes around"? cos if they do, then they will be "good".
another thing is about suicide... (inspired by chinese textbook) if a certain religion forbids people from suiciding (like almost all)?
does it imply that the god cares about out present life and wants us to cherish it as much as our next? then shouldnt we also cherish our life and enjoy it, instead of sacrifice it entirely to religion until that your own basic needs of living are neglected? like Tibetan monks and those extremist that blows stuff up...they put their basic comfort of living at the side....is this the right thing to do?

questions questions....oh well, we may never know....

9/7/09 :
hmmm. since i finished my homework, i should post a bit :)
today while discussing about CAC 1 minute of fame, crapped with our lovely residential (literally) red cross scholar :)
he commented :"it is human nature to do good, but the ways of doing it makes the result bad"
contemplating on that now...kinda makes sense with ancient chinese philosophy.
this will mean that our starting point is good for actions, but the method that we uses to achieve our aims sucks. like Hitler, he wanted to "improve" the german empire, which can be seen as good to a certain extent, however, he resorts to killing of Jews and many other people.
woo, shall think more about that.
oh and he and one other guy really amazed me by their wide general knowledge... seriously know all those "useless" fun facts.
yay.......
